Mindie's
background and success track record
Mindie started building social
media networks through Facebook,
Twitter and LinkedIn in February of
2009. Within one month she had
received offers to write for four
magazines and one book publisher.
She accepted the book offer and
wrote
Haunted Eastern Shore:
Ghostly Tales From East of the
Chesapeake for History Press.
This book was one of regional
interest to an area with a
population under 600,000. The
expected sales were about 1500
copies sold in the first year.
As she built her social network
she was able to accelerate the word
of mouth promotion for her book.
TRACK RECORD FOR SUCCESS
One month before the book was
launched (September 3, 2009), Mindie
began a Facebook Fan page for the
book and by launch date - October
1st, the Fan page had acquired 1000
fans. That number rose to 2000 fans
by November 1st, and the book was
close to selling out of its first
printing.
By November 13th, six weeks after
its launch, Haunted Eastern Shore
sold out its first printing and
went into its second printing.
In addition, Mindie Burgoyne
achieved the following sales and
marketing successes IN THE FIRST SIX
WEEKS after launch:
1.
Haunted Eastern Shore
was covered by nine regional
newspapers.
2. Mindie Burgoyne was asked to
discuss her book on two local
television networks.
3. Interviews with Mindie were
broadcast on 7 radio stations (incl.
NPR affiliates)
4. Haunted Eastern Shore was
featured on the cover of the Star
Democrat weekend insert along with a
1500 word article on how she came to
write the book.
5. Mindie was asked to speak at two
annual events for local non-profits
6. Twelve retail outlets asked for
Mindie to appear for book signing
events.
7. Mindie's book had made it as high
as #16 in sales on Amazon.com for
books on the Paranormal and #22 for
books with a regional focus in the
Mid-Atlantic states.
"Social media is a platform
from which you can build a virtual
network - that is, a network
similar to a personal network of
people you've met face-to-face -
only larger, more accessible and
more powerful. Imagine being
able build a network in the
thousands and then being able to
speak to your entire network 4 or 5
times a day." ~Mindie
Burgoyne
Unlike many teachers and coaches
training on using social media
networks, Mindie has an outstanding
track record of putting her
expertise into practice. She has
seen results that equal dollars and
cents.
"As
someone who has used Facebook
since 2004, I never thought I
would be someone who would
benefit from this seminar.
Mindie's advice far exceeded my
expectations and I now have a
more strategic approach to
social networking and a true
appreciation for the power it
holds."

City of Crisfield Events Planner
OTHER SUCCESSES IN JUST THREE
SHORT MONTHS:
Connections in high places-
Through her social media
networks, Mindie has been able to
make connections with literary
agents, publishers and potential
candidates for interviews -
(including Paddy Moloney of the
Chieftains).
As of January 1, 2011 (less
than 2 years after her first attempt
at social media) .....
- Mindie's book, Haunted
Eastern Shore is in it's third
printing (16 months after the
release.
- Over 60 groups have asked
Mindie to speak about travel,
her book or train on social
media
- Mindie has been asked to
conduct over 10 tours to
mystical sites or haunted
places.
- Mindie has spoken at 70
different venues - NONE of
these events (except one - the
first Social Media bootcamp in
July 2010) was sought out by
Mindie. Every event came
about because someone heard
about her through social media.
(see
calendar of events for
listings of speaking events in
the past 16 months)
Social media outlets have allowed
Mindie to expand her speaking
platform and she remains a magnet
for opportunity.
"Mindie understands how to use
social networking better than
anyone else out there. Business
people who aren't using these
platforms to spread their
message are missing out on
incredible marketing
opportunities. But just having a
presence on these sites isn't
enough. Mindie explains the do's
and don'ts of social
networking."
